Residents of Igembe, Meru county, have called for the authorities to deal with the wildlife menace after the latest incident in which a 90-year-old man was fatally attacked by an elephant.
The Friday tragedy follows another incident in which two women were badly injured by an elephant in the same area.
Residents faulted the Kenya Wildlife Service for failing to deal with the menace despite several reports.
Angry residents took matters into their own hands and slaughtered the elephant which killed the elderly man.
They warned that they will continue to do so until the authorities step in and deal with the menace.
