Speaking in Mbeere North Constituency, where he led a multi-agency security meeting ahead of the poll, Marjan said that the commission has finalised all logistical and security arrangements.
“All is set. We have trained all the clerks. Preparations for setting up the material are ready, and ballots will be opened tomorrow,” Marjan said.
Marjan assured voters that all polling stations in Mbeere North and other by-election areas will have adequate security, revealing that 40 officers have already been stationed at the tallying centres, with additional teams expected.
“We will have two police officers per polling station, and more officers will be stationed at the tallying centre. Already, 10 security officers are manning the tallying area, and 40 are at the tallying centre. Others will be headed there,” he said.
He added that security teams from neighbouring counties have been mobilised to reinforce operations and respond to any emerging issues at the constituency.
On the clerk's training, Marjan confirmed that it was completed on Monday and all polling materials have been dispatched to the constituency tallying centres. He further stated that the deployment of election officials and materials to the stations will begin on Wednesday.
Marjun stressed the commission’s commitment to credibility and transparency, saying, “We want to give the country credible elections. All stakeholders have a role to play, including the youth. It’s the youth who will conduct these elections at the polls.”
He added that the IEBC and security agencies held a broad discussion on concerns raised on the grounds, expressing confidence that the security team will act on them promptly.
The by-elections will be held on November 27 across multiple regions, with a total of 24 polls: one Senate seat in Baringo County, six parliamentary seats and 17 MCA positions. Constituencies voting for new MPs include Kasipul, Mbeere North, Ugunja, Magarini, Banissa and Malava.
