The Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) has dismissed reports that suspended chief executive Ezra Chiloba has been sacked.
According to the electoral body, the disciplinary process against Chiloba is however still on-going.
“It is not true that CEO Ezra Chiloba, who is on suspension, has been dismissed from employment. What is true is that the disciplinary process is on-going and the Commission will make an objective decision on the matter,” IEBC said on Twitter on Tuesday morning.
The statement comes hours after reports circulated on social media that Chiloba had been fired.
On September 13, Chiloba’s PA was arrested trying to sneak out files from the agency.
Abednego Ominde and acting IEBC Finance Director Agatha Wahome were busted trying to make away with 14 files from the Finance and Procurement departments.
Chiloba has since denied the allegations insisting that the two were going to make copies in preparation for his return to work.
