The Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) has commenced by-elections in four locations.

The exercise will seek to fill four vacant seats - the Member of the National Assembly for Isiolo South, and ward representative positions in West Kabras (Kakamega) and Muminji and Evurore (Embu).

Voters availed themselves at the designated polling stations on Thursday morning among them Democratic Party leader Justin Muturi who casted his vote at Kanyuambora Low Cost Boarding Primary school in Evurore ward, Mbeere North.

The Isiolo South fell vacant after the death of Mohamed Tubi elected in 2022 while the MCA seats fell vacant after their occupants resigned to contest for parliament positions during the November 27 by-elections.

IEBC Chairperson Erastus Edung Ethekon has assured voters that materials, technology and personnel are in place and election officials have undergone training focused on professionalism, integrity and proper results handling.
