DCP leader Rigathi Gachagua has yet again affirmed that he
will be on the ballot to unseat President William Ruto in next year’s general
election.
Speaking in Kajiado County on
Friday, Gachagua vowed to make President William Ruto a one-term president,
with his allies insisting that within the United Opposition, Gachagua is the
only candidate with the muscle to unseat President William Ruto.
Gachagua was in Kajiado East Constituency on Friday for the thanksgiving ceremony of the party national chairperson David Parseina.
“Nataka watu wa Kajiado mnipatie
nafasi niwe rais wa sita wa Jamhuri ya Kenya, niregeshe heshima ya watu wa
Kajiado. Nataka niambie wale hawajui. Hii Kajiado ni DCP zone,” said Gachagua.
DCP chairperson David Parseina
also added: “As the DCP Party, we are going to field a presidential candidate
in 2027 and it is none other than Rigathi Gachagua...”
Even as the United Opposition
has been on record stating that they will sit and agree on a formidable
candidate to fly the opposition flag, Gachagua allies who accompanied him in
Kajiado insisted that of all the opposition leaders, Gachagua has the weight
and muscle to make President William Ruto a one-term president.
“Yule mtu ako na muscle ya
kutoa Kasongo ni huyu Gachagua, lazima afike kwa debe...,” said Deputy Party
Leader Cleophas Malala.
MP Wanjiku Muhia also weighed
in stating:
“As DCP Party, we are ready to
bring the sixth president of Kenya.... Kama ODM inaleta mzee kama huyo na je
sisi?”
Gachagua tore into President
William Ruto, accusing him of making false promises.
“Wewe Ruto, I am not bragging
but you don’t know politics and I will teach you politics next year... You have
been thriving on conmanship and deception...,” he said.
The DCP leader also warned
against the directive issued by the Ministry of Trade yesterday allowing
adjusted fuel standards in the country for the next six months.
Gachagua continues with his tour of Kajiado in Oloitoktok
this weekend.
