"I Love You!" Vybz Kartel proposes to longtime girlfriend Sidem months after leaving prison

The emotional moment unfolded in a hotel room, where Öztürk was left stunned as Kartel presented an engagement ring, marking a significant step in their unconventional love story.

Kartel shared his joy with fans, flashing the engagement ring before the proposal, and later took to Instagram to reflect on their relationship.

While making the heartfelt announcement in a video shared on Instagram, Tuesday, he said, "It’s official… I proposed in prison, but I proposed in real life." 

“You were there when I needed you most, and I’ll never leave you, baby. I cherish every visit, every phone call, and all the moments we spent talking, laughing, and even crying together. You’ve been my rock, my best friend, and my companion. I pray we stay together for as long as I live. I love you, baby.”

The couple first met in 2015 while Kartel was serving time following a murder conviction. In previous interviews, the two have spoken about their journey and commitment over the years until Kartel’s release from prison in July, after his conviction was overturned.

They have since launched their own YouTube channel, Kiss Me Baby, where they share glimpses of their daily life and offer a closer look at their love story.

In a past interview, Sidem  said she was drawn to Kartel not only for his music but also for the allure he held in her life. “I found him very handsome… an obsession,” she shared, describing him as her “perfect match.”

Despite Kartel’s incarceration, the couple’s love has endured - this actually marks the second time the global superstar has made his intention to want to marry her known, he once did it while behind bars.
