Hussein Mohammed calls for fair playing field ahead of FKF elections

Mohammed, has called on the newly formed Electoral Board to ensure the upcoming
FKF elections are free and fair.
Speaking in Mombasa during the Dola
Super Cup Coast Finals at the Mombasa Sports Ground, a day after attending
the FKF Special General Meeting, Mohammed who is expected to launch his FKF bid
for the FKF president’s position this on Wednesday, August 28, 2024, said the
FIFA and Kenyan law must be followed to the letter in order to have credible
elections.
He has, at the same time, called on football
stakeholders especially those eligible to vote to make sure they elect people
who have the interest of Kenyan football at heart.
“I call upon all stakeholders to come
on board to have a free, fair and inclusive FKF elections. We must follow the Constitution,
we must allow everyone to compete for the top seat. This time round we must get
leaders who will take our football to the next level,” said Mohammed, who
is also the Extreme Sports Chief Executive Officer (CEO).
Mohammed also said that they have
confidence in the new FKF Electoral Board but warned them of any
irregularities.
“We don't have a problem with
the FKF electoral board, we are free with anyone who will be tasked to lead us
during the election, all that we call upon is a free and fair exercise. We will
follow all the proceedings keenly".
Meanwhile, the Vice Chairman urged
other corporates to follow Dola's way and come on board to support the most
loved game in the country.
“The passion of football as you can
see, the passion of sports is huge at the Coast especially in Mombasa. We want
to encourage more sponsors to come on board and support such initiatives,” he
said.
“For a long time, we have been lagging
behind due to lack of sponsorship, but now there is hope if we can show
integrity, transparency and accountability.”
Kilifi FC emerged winners of the
competition’s after defeating Mombasa ‘A’ 4-3 after a 1-1 draw in the normal
time.
Kilifi FC awarded Ksh.1 million while Mombasa ‘A’
pocketed Ksh.500,000.
