Detectives at Isebania Police Station in Migori County are
holding six suspects linked to the murder of a 30-year-old woman. The woman’s
husband is among the suspects.
An autopsy confirmed the 30-year-old mother of two, identified
as Davine Kwamboka, died as a result of head injuries caused by blunt force
trauma.
Surveillance cameras captured some of the suspects dragging
the deceased’s body from her house, where she had allegedly been killed, in an
attempt to conceal the murder.
Footage seen by Citizen TV showed Davine entering her house in
the company of her husband and another man.
The husband, who appeared to be on a phone call, picked
something from the window. The three got into the house and remained there for
a while.
The man who had accompanied Davine and her husband then left
the house and walked out of the gate. He was later seen walking back, seemingly
on a phone call.
A bodaboda rider joined them after some time. The three were
captured by CCTV cameras, dragging Davine on the floor as they got out of the
house. At some point, they left the husband, who was seen dragging Davine
towards a standby motorcycle.
The men tried to help her board the standby motorcycle.
Another man would then join them, and the struggle to get her onto the
motorcycle continued.
It is suspected Davine was dead at this point. The men managed
to have her sit on the motorcycle, and the rider and the husband rode away with
her.
Davine’s family says her husband, Johnson Nyandigisi Bukundo,
was arrested alongside a taxi driver transporting her body to an unknown
location.
They were arrested near the Isebania border in Migori County.
The husband allegedly said Davine had taken poison leading to her death, an
apparent attempt to conceal the murder.
“Inakuwaje dada yangu anaonekana akiingia kwa nyumba wakiwa
watatu, na kwa dakika chache tunaambiwa ati alikunywa sumu na kufa na walikuwa
wote kwa nyumba watu watatu? Dadangu ana watoto wadogo wachanga na wanaenda
shule na wamekuwa wakimtegemea kama mama. Tunataka uchunguzi wa kina na tupate
kujua ukweli na justice,” said a member of Davine’s family, Richard Nyahega.
Davine’s work colleagues later revealed that her husband went
to her place of work agitated, and that the two quarrelled for some time before
he requested that they leave for home where they could sort out their
differences.
“Huyo mwanamume alikuwa amelewa sana, alipofika akataka
kumpiga. Davine akamkumbatia huyu mzee akamsukuma huko. Baadaye wakaanza
kushuka kwenda huko chini. Kidogo kuna mwenye amekuja kutuambia ameona Davine
amebebwa kwa pikipiki hata kichwa imelala ni kama hayuko sawa. Tukakimbia huko
kufika tukapata Davine amekufa,” said Davine’s friend, Doto Dida.
The husband and the taxi driver were detained at Isebania
Police Station, and Davine’s body taken to Migori District Mortuary for
preservation.
Police have so far arrested a total of six suspects linked to
the murder, as Davine’s family continues to demand justice.
