After a days-long temporary shutdown of the
Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) voter verification
portal over a reported maintenance exercise, the electoral body on Tuesday announced
that the system is back up.
Now, Kenyans previously registered as
voters can confirm their records as the 2027 general elections voter registration
window inches closer.
Voters can confirm their details via SMS or
online through the IEBC portal.
To check your details via SMS, send your national ID
or passport number, depending on which you used to register, to the number
70000.
Alternatively, you can go to https://verify.iebc.or.ke,
where you will be asked for your ID or passport number and year of birth.
The portal will load up your voter details,
including your full name, county name, constituency, and ward name.
Your polling centre name, polling station
name, and polling station number (stream) will also be displayed.
You can download your voter details as a
PDF document.
IEBC has said it has details of over 22.1
million registered voters from the 2022 general election.
The commission projects an additional 5.7
million new voters, bringing to about 28 million in the 2027 election.
