In a remarkable story of hope, resilience, and divine timing, US-based Kenyan entrepreneur and music impresario Stephen Dezz Aoll found both a second chance at life and the love of his life while lying on what seemed to be his deathbed.

After facing critical health struggles and feeling abandoned by everyone around him, Stephen's journey took a life-changing turn when he was admitted to the trauma unit after a freak road accident, leading him to reconnect with his faith, rebuild his empire, and fall deeply in love with his primary caregiver, Patience.

Back in April 2025, Dezz, as he is popularly known, was driving along a foggy US highway before his 2012 BMW dramatically crossed the centre line along route 518 in Montgomery Township, travelled across the opposite lane, left the roadway, and struck a utility pole.

It was a deafening crash which saw his vehicle get totally mangled and badly wrecked before various US personnel, drawn from fire, road and emergency units, arrived, transported and admitted him to RWJ Hospital in New Brunswick, just three blocks away from the CMG USA headquarters, where he spent the bulk of his time.

From his hospital bed, Dezz would now stare into a reality he had barely entertained just hours before - the fact that he now not only needed a series of surgeries, but would be bedridden for an extended period, while at the same time learning how to walk again.

Speaking to Citizen Digital at the time, he said: "I'm lucky to have survived. I didn't get any head injuries neither did I break my spine. It could have been worse. I thank God for escaping with no major spinal injuries. It would have changed my life forever."

"It happened so fast, I could barely tell how it all came to this. I think my car skidded off the road, throwing me to the other side. I stared death in the eyes. God decided it was not yet time for me to leave this earth. It is by His grace that I am alive to tell this story," he added, in a pensive tone.

When he was first confined to his room, the world shrank to the four walls of his bedroom and the ticking of the clock on the wall.

The unexpected accident had left him bed-ridden, stripped of his independence and forced into a stillness he had never known.

It is while in that debilitating state that he would stumble upon a miracle - in the form of a Kenyan nurse who not only helped transform his life, but also conquer his heart.

Patience, a dedicated registered nurse originally from Kitale, Kenya, plays an essential role in one of New Jersey's three major Level 1 trauma centers—a renowned facility famous for treating high-profile figures such as former US president George Bush and prolific comedian Tracy Morgan.

A Luhya native, her professional journey began in Kenya, where she was involved in comedy acting, before relocating to the United States in 2017.

In the US, Patience would go on to earn her Bachelor of Science in Nursing and established a successful healthcare career handling some of the most critical trauma cases in the region.

Remarkably, the very same doctor who operated on prominent figures also performed Stephen’s surgery.

Beyond her clinical skill, Patience's compassionate spirit left an indelible mark on Stephen's recovery.

A noteworthy singer herself, her father is a pastor, which possibly helped her bring a deep sense of faith and comfort to her care, often singing to her patients.

Even while enduring personal heartbreak after losing her mother to cancer earlier this year, Patience maintained an extraordinary depth of empathy, standing steadfastly by Stephen's side during his darkest hours, tending to him, watching over him and providing incredible support laced with boundless love and infinite support.

Where Dezz expected clinical coldness, Patience offered profound empathy. She adjusted his pillows with practiced precision, tracked his medications flawlessly, and gently encouraged him through exhausting physical therapy exercises.

As weeks rolled by, their conversations moved past medical updates: They talked about their childhoods, favorite books, forgotten dreams, and the small ironies of life.

Patience's laughter became the highlight of his day, and his spirited debates restored a spark in him that the injury had extinguished.

Lovingly, she saw beyond his physical limitations, treating him not as a condition to be managed, but as a person with depth, humor, and resilience.

Their shared connection would quickly blossom into a powerful romance built on mutual faith and gratitude.

The professional boundary blurred naturally, replaced by a deep mutual affection born out of vulnerability, patience, and shared solace.

What began in the shadow of illness blossomed into a genuine, lasting love - proving that sometimes, the profoundest connections are built in the quietest, most unexpected places.

Having weathered life-threatening health battles and personal sorrow, the couple continues to inspire many as Dezz recovers, turns to God, and moves forward hand-in-hand with the woman who helped save his life.

"I thank God for bringing this amazing woman into my life. I guess everything happens for a reason, as they say. I could not have imagined meeting the love of my life while nursing serious injuries. This truly is a blessing to me. Patience was sent to me directly by God - and she has performed extraordinary miracles in my life," Dezz proudly says.
