A family in Chanzeywe Village, Vihiga County, is mourning after a 20-year-old man allegedly stabbed his mother-in-law to death in what police suspect was a domestic dispute.

The victim, identified as Ebby Mahugi, died after she was attacked at her home. Police have launched investigations into the circumstances surrounding the killing.

Mahugi's daughter, Belinda Minayo, said she had separated from the suspect, who is the father of her child. She claimed the relationship had broken down after she accused him of engaging in criminal activities and decided to leave the marriage.

According to Minayo, the suspect had allegedly continued threatening her and members of her family following the separation before the fatal attack on her mother.

Mungoma Location Chief Esther Vidija confirmed the incident and said local authorities responded after receiving reports of the attack. She urged residents to seek peaceful ways of resolving domestic disputes and report threats to security agencies before they escalate into violence.

The body of the deceased was taken to the Vihiga County Referral Hospital mortuary as detectives continue with investigations. Police have not announced any arrests in connection with the incident.
