Police in Uriri Sub County have launched an investigation into an incident where a boy in grade 7 is accused of hacking his brother, aged 23 years, after they disagreed over their stepfather.

Thim-Jope sub-location Assistant Chief Kerry Otieno said the man who sustained serious panga cuts following the attack by his blood brother, aged 16 years, is receiving treatment at Migori Referral Hospital.

Otieno said their preliminary investigation established that the victim, who has always opposed the decision of his widowed mother being inherited, clashed with the suspect, who has always stood on the side of his mother, supporting her decision to be inherited.

The area Assistant Chief said the victim, who was hospitalized last week, attacked the wife inheritor when he disagreed with the mother over him.

He has appealed to the widows with grown-up children to ensure that they discuss issues of inheritance with the children before they are inherited to avoid such conflicts in families.
