Siaya Governor James Orengo has unveiled the Liberal
Democratic Party (LDP) as his political vehicle for the 2027 General Election,
saying it will work with other opposition parties to challenge President
William Ruto.
Speaking in Golini, Kwale County, Orengo said the opposition
would present a united front to challenge the incumbent in next year’s
election.
“Sisi sote tuko pamoja na vile vyama vingine vya Kalonzo,
Wiper, na Ukombozi, ya Jubilee ya Matiang’i. Yote lazima tujumuike tukae
pamoja, la sivyo huyo Ruto, kama kuna mtu anajua kuiba kura,” he said.
Chirau Ali Mwakwere added, “Kila mmoja atengeze ajenge
nyumba yake, kila nyumba iwe na kiongozi wake, alafu viongozi watatoka pamoja
wakate shauri ni nani atakayekuwa mwenyekiti wa kijiji chetu.”
Orengo warned that any attempt by the national government to
scrap the mandatory live streaming of election results would be interpreted as
a move to compromise the 2027 General Election.
“Ata waweke sheria ya aina gani, sisi tutaenda kortini
kuitupilia mbali.
The LDP is an old political party associated with Raila
Odinga in 2002. It joined the National Rainbow Coalition (NARC) in the campaign
against KANU in that year’s General Election.
Meanwhile, Wiper Patriotic Front leader Kalonzo Musyoka says
he is ready to square it out with the President if the opposition coalition
grants him the presidential ticket.
Wiper Patriotic Front leader Kalonzo Musyoka on Friday
toured Tharaka Ward and Kyuso in Mwingi North Constituency, where he opened
three party offices.
The Wiper leader focused on the political contest taking
shape between the opposition and the Kenya Kwanza administration. Kalonzo
described himself as President Ruto’s main challenger and told the gatherings
he addressed that his public service record was an open book that could
withstand scrutiny.
“In all my years in public service, I have never ordered the
killing of Gen Z protesters, and I have never presided over abductions and
disappearances,” Kalonzo said.
“They call me ‘Mr. 40 Years’. Yes, 40 years of service, and
every one of them was spent delivering for Kenyans.”
Kalonzo said he had served in administrations that
introduced free primary education and oversaw the realisation of a new
Constitution, among other gains.
“This predator regime thrives on propaganda, lies and
intimidation. It will not distract me from my mission,” Kalonzo stated.
