Gor Mahia head coach Jonathan McKinstry says he is undeterred by the pressure that comes with being on top of the league and maintaining their unbeaten run ahead of their FKF PL clash with Bandari on Thursday.

K'Ogalo have won eight and drawn seven in their last 15 outings to place them at the summit of the log standings on 31 points, a feat the tactician says motivates other FKF-Premier League teams to have a go at trying to topple the defending champions.

"I think it's now 17 games since we last lost back in June. That gives the guys a lot of confidence but also it puts a marker on you because other teams want to be the team that topples you.

"We know that it puts added pressure on us because everyone is asking when are they going to slip up and we play Bandari, who have also had a very good season and we know that they are going to be a very tough opponent, but we just have to go about our business and there is no reason we can't continue our run," asserted McKinstry.

At the same time, Gor captain Philemon Otieno has expressed confidence in retaining the title, saying that the team is motivated by the prospect of a return to continental football, even as he stresses the need to take one game at a time.

" We are doing well so far and we are pushing to make sure that we win the title.

“We want to go and represent the country in continental football but as you know, we are taking it a game at a time and this is our last game of the first leg (Bandari FC), we will make sure we try to finish on a high," assured Otieno.

The 20-time KPL champions will fancy their chances against Bandari, having gone four points adrift at the top with a 2-0 win over FC Talanta over the weekend, while Bandari will look to build on their win against Murang'a SEAL.
