Wiper Patriotic
Front (WPF) leader Kalonzo Musyoka has declared that God is using him to send
President William Ruto home, as he hit back at the Head of State over remarks
identifying him as his main political rival.
Kalonzo described
Ruto’s remarks as the most honest admission the President had made in four
years, saying the acknowledgement confirmed his position in the contest against
the Kenya Kwanza administration.
Speaking during a
Thanksgiving service at the Seventh-day Adventist Church in Kamikau, Tharaka
Ward, on Saturday, Kalonzo dismissed claims that he was working hard to
outshine the President, maintaining that his political engagements were part of
a broader push for change.
“Ruto ako Machakos
na ata ameenda kunisifu na ametangaza kwamba yule mpinzani wake sugu ni Kalonzo
Musyoka, yule mtu wa miaka arubaini. Lakini Ruto kumbuka for 40 years the
Israelites were in the desert, and Kenyans have been in the desert because of
poor governorship, theft of public funds and leaders enriching themselves with
public funds,” he said.
The Wiper leader
also defended his busy travel schedule, which saw him visit Machakos, Mombasa,
London, Rome and Bondo within three days, insisting that the trips were
undertaken without a private jet or taxpayers’ money.
“As his key rival,
he is wondering why I am very quick; just a week ago I was in Machakos, the
next day I took a flight to London to the House of Commons, then to Rome and
back to Kenya and then to Raila’s memorial. I did not use Kenyans' money,
private jets or taxpayers' money, but we as Wiper are determined to rescue the
nation,” he noted.
Kalonzo accused
Ruto of engaging in propaganda, distorting his statements and attacking
opposition leaders instead of addressing the challenges facing Kenyans.
He further faulted
the President for allegedly using the launch and relaunch of development
projects as opportunities to criticise his political opponents, arguing that
leaders should focus on the needs of ordinary citizens.
The opposition
leader maintained that political attacks would not distract him from his
agenda, saying his priority remained Kenya’s future and the broader The
Ukombozi Alliance movement.
Kalonzo also
reaffirmed his commitment to working with other opposition leaders, saying the
effort to remove the current administration from power was a collective
mission.
