Ghana’s Basil David Anthony wins top Décor Award, targets Kenyan market

Ghanaian entrepreneur Basil David Anthony, CEO of Modern Floors & Walls, has been named Most Influential Décor & Interior Solutions Entrepreneur of the Year 2025, highlighting his role in shaping Africa’s interior finishing and construction solutions sector. The award was presented during the 16th Ghana Entrepreneurs Awards by the Entrepreneurs Foundation of Ghana. Organisers cited his leadership, innovation, and contribution to advancing flooring and interior finishing standards. Following the recognition, the company signalled plans to expand into East Africa, identifying Kenya as a priority market. The move is expected to introduce a range of products including stone plastic composite (SPC) flooring and wall panels, luxury vinyl tiles, carpets, waterproof coatings, and construction chemicals. Modern Floors & Walls has previously engaged the Kenyan market through participation in Kenya Buildcon, where it interacted with developers and contractors. The firm says those engagements informed its market entry strategy. As part of the expansion, the company is preparing to roll out product lines tailored for residential, commercial and hospitality developments, alongside technical support materials for project planning. Plans are also underway to open a showroom in Nairobi, marking a physical entry into the market. Anthony said the expansion aligns with efforts to scale African-owned brands and deepen intra-African trade, with a focus on partnerships, innovation, and skills development within the construction sector. Modern Floors & Walls currently operates in Ghana and the United Arab Emirates, specialising in flooring, waterproofing and interior finishing solutions.
