Gailey Singh takes overall honours at Kenya Re Golf Tournament

Gailey Singh emerged the overall winner of the 2026 Kenya Re Annual Corporate Golf Tournament after scoring 43 points at Muthaiga Golf Club on Friday, September 11.

Singh received the overall winner’s award from Kenya Re Director Joseph Kirika during the tournament, which brought together golfers, insurance industry players and business partners.

Joseph Kamiri also posted 43 points to win the men’s category, with Sylvestor Onyango finishing second on 43 points and Adam Boru third on 42 points.

In the ladies’ category, Dorcas Njoroge took the top position with 40 points, followed by Lucy Njoroge with 39 points and Faith Kanana with 38 points.

Eric Rugo was named Best Industry Winner after scoring 40 points, while Fidelis Kimanzi won the Gross Winner title with a score of 76 gross.

Carol Mukami and Emmanuel Nyankabaria won the ladies’ and men’s Best Effort awards respectively. Perpetua Wanjiru and Bargotio Kwonyike took the ladies’ and men’s Longest Drive titles, while Mary Mbataru and Adam Boru won the ladies’ and men’s Nearest to the Pin awards.

Speaking during the tournament, Kenya Re Group Managing Director Dr Hillary Wachinga said the event provided an opportunity for players in the insurance sector and its wider business network to interact outside their usual professional engagements.

He drew parallels between golf and the insurance business, citing strategy, discipline, patience and risk management as common elements in both.

The tournament was held as Kenya Re reported a 42.8 per cent increase in profit after tax for the first half of 2026, rising to KSh2.3 billion from KSh1.6 billion in a similar period last year.

Wachinga said the improved performance gives the reinsurer a stronger position as it enters the second half of the financial year.

Kenya Re has operations in Uganda, Zambia and Côte d’Ivoire as part of its regional business.

The Corporation has said it plans to consolidate its position in existing markets while pursuing further opportunities across Africa.
