DCP Leader Rigathi Gachagua has lauded former President Uhuru Kenyatta for what he says is refusing to work with President William Ruto ahead of the 2027 general election.

Addressing a church service in Nyeri on Sunday, Gachagua said he has read in the press that Uhuru has rejected any efforts to re-unite with Ruto, saying it's the right thing to do.

"I want to laud President Uhuru for rejecting any attempts by Ruto to work with him. If he agrees to work with Ruto he will taint his name," Gachagua said.

He revisited his early claims that Ruto wanted to appoint Uhuru in overseeing his 'Beyond 2030' plan, adding that the president did so without consulting his predecessor.

Gachagua also said towards his fallout with Ruto, he tried to find a truce with him through different people, among them NIS Director Noordin Hajji and Head of Public Service Felix Kosgey.

"I sent elders from his Kalenjin community among them late Baringo Senator William Cheptumo, but he refused to listen. I sent church leaders, he refused to listen to them," Gachagua said.

His clais come following an interview where Ruto yet again accused Uhuru of sponsiring the opposition to kick him out in the 2027 election.
