The Democracy for Citizens Party (DCP) leader Rigathi Gachagua is now urging supporters of the United Opposition to be patient, as the principals agree on the best formula to pick the flagbearer who will face incumbent President William Ruto in next year's General Election.

The former Deputy President stated that the ongoing exchanges involving a section of leaders from constituent parties under the opposition umbrella are healthy and promote democracy, with the single aim of establishing a coalition that will face off with the broad-based alliance.

Speaking while attending a public engagement meeting at Ngatataek, Kajiado Central, Gachagua said supporters of the United Opposition should vote to elect who will become the flagbearer to face President Ruto in the polls.

“Sisi wenyewe tunajua vile tutamtoa Kasongo, lakini hatuwezi kumtoa tukiwa mazungumzo kwa hoteli. Hatuwezi kumtoa tukiwa kwa workshop na seminar,” he said.

“When do we name the candidate? Justin Muturi anasema ati sasa, Kalonzo Musyoka anasema December, Riggy G anasema next year, mwingine anasema tungoje kidogo…”

The DCP party chief outfit reiterated that there is no division within the United Opposition despite exchanges that involve some of its principals.

“The exchanges are healthy because of democracy. And it’s not enmity, it’s disagreeing in a nice manner; different ideas by different people, and we’re all talking and looking for a formula that is acceptable to everybody,” he said.

Gachagua also urged the Maa community to shun President Ruto during next year's presidential polls for failing to deliver his 2022 pre-election promises to residents.

“Kasongo aliahidi Amboseli, ati mtapata…sherehe ilipoisha akaingia kwa gari akapigia simu director wa KWS akamwambia hiyo kitu hakuna,” he said.
