Gachagua claims Ruto to unveil Vision 2060, appoint Uhuru as team leader

Gachagua asked Ruto to address what he termed as the government's failure to safeguard lives, provide security, and resolve challenges facing the education and health sectors.

Hours before President Ruto's address to the nation, his former deputy addressed a gathering of clergy at his Nyeri home, claiming the President's speech would be long on vision but short on answers.

He alleged that Ruto intends to unveil an ambitious Vision 2060 plan and appoint former President Uhuru Kenyatta to lead it.

 "We are telling my elder brother Uhuru Kenyatta, don't allow yourself to be dragged into that mess," Gachagua said.

Gachagua argued that instead of introducing long-term development plans, the President should account for what his administration has achieved over the past year.

"That vision is something we will plan next year. Why are you worried about the next 60 years? Tell us what you have done in the last one year," he said.

The Democracy for the Citizens Party (DCP) leader also demanded that the President address reports of a plan to stop the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) from live-streaming election results, saying Kenyans would reject such a move.

 "You must stop interfering with the IEBC to ban the live streaming of results. Why do you want live streaming not to happen? We want the results to be broadcast live," Gachagua stated.

He further accused the government of orchestrating abductions and extrajudicial killings targeting Gen Z protesters and claimed the country's security situation had deteriorated.

 "Tell Kenyans why you ordered the abductions of Gen Z protesters. When you come on TV tonight, tell Kenyans why you ordered extrajudicial killings. Tell Kenyans why you have made Kenya worse than Haiti, a nation of goons. Why have you made the National Police Service synonymous with goonism?" he posed.

Gachagua also criticised President Ruto's allies, singling out Health Cabinet Secretary Aden Duale, whom he accused of engaging in political attacks instead of focusing on improving the country's healthcare system.

 "Tell Kenyans when you will get off the campaign vehicles and do some work. There is only one year left before you go home. Stop sending people like Duale to insult others. Those are the things Kenyans want to hear from you. They also want you to tell them tonight that if you lose next year, you will accept the results and return to Sugoi," he said.

Beyond politics, Gachagua also raised concerns over what he described as the government's failure to streamline funding for basic and higher education, as well as challenges surrounding the implementation of the Social Health Authority (SHA).
