Shortly after landing in the United Kingdom, Gachagua shared a post, indicating that he would focus on engaging diaspora professionals, entrepreneurs, leaders and supporters.
The former DP was accompanied by his spouse, Dorcas Rigathi, and a delegation.
“With my delegation, my spouse, Reverend Dorcas Rigathi, and myself, I am pleased to announce that we have arrived in London, United Kingdom, to engage with Kenyans living and working in the diaspora,” he posted on X.
Gachagua noted that the Kenyan diaspora plays a critical role in the country’s economic growth through investments and remittances, but argued that their contributions are often undermined by unfavourable government policies.
“The diaspora community comprising leaders, professionals, entrepreneurs and supporters plays a vital role in shaping our country's economic trajectory. However, their efforts in Kenya are often hindered by unfavourable policies."
The former Deputy President also revealed that he intends to use the trip to market the Democracy for Citizens Party (DCP), which he described as “the party of the moment.”
“Our party's philosophy aligns closely with the values and aspirations of the diaspora community, and I look forward to sharing our vision with them."
Shortly after the UK trip, Gachagua is expected to tour the United States of America to address the party's financial gap.
The visit comes amid heightened political activity ahead of the 2027 General Election, with Gachagua increasingly ramping up support for DCP as the vehicle to oust President William Ruto in the presidential polls.
