Veteran media personality Fred Machoka has expressed openness to an amicable resolution in a defamation case he filed against Kileleshwa MCA Robert Alai.

Through his lawyer, Danstan Omari, Machoka told the court that he is ready and willing to engage constructively with the defendant once the issue of identity is clarified.

When the matter came up in court, the judge asked whether the parties had tried to settle the matter.

Lawyer Danstan Omari informed the court that the defendant has disowned the social media account and even claimed that he is not the person being sued.

"You cannot enter into a discussion with someone who says it’s not himit appears to be a case of mistaken identity,” Omari said.

Machoka maintains that his reputation as a veteran broadcaster was unfairly tarnished by defamatory statements posted on a Facebook account bearing the name Robert Alai.

However, Kileleshwa MCA Robert Alai Onyango, through his court filings, insists that he is not the person behind the account, asserting that his full name and the defendant’s name in the e-filed case do not match.

Alai has urged the court to dismiss the case, arguing that it is baseless and founded on mistaken identity. He has also denied owning or operating any Facebook account, distancing himself entirely from the alleged posts.

Machoka maintains that he is open to dialogue.
