Four people killed after bus, lorry collide head-on at Manyani

Four people have been killed after a bus and a lorry collided head-on at Manyani on the Nairobi-Mombasa highway early Wednesday morning.

According to a police report, the driver of the lorry and his turnboy as well as the bus driver and one unidentified female passenger died on the spot.

The report said that the bus, which was carrying 44 passengers, was attempting to overtake a static lorry on the road when it came head-to-head with another oncoming lorry.

Several passengers in the bus sustained slight injuries and were taken to the Moi Referral Hospital in Voi for treatment.

Bodies of the deceased are being preserved at the same facility’s mortuary awaiting identification.

The vehicles were extensively damaged during the accident and have since been towed to Voi Police Station pending inspection.
