Fortune Sacco
goalkeeper Malvin Nderitu has set his sights on finishing the season as the top
goalkeeper in the National Super League clean sheets standings as the campaign
heads into its final four matches.
Nderitu has enjoyed an impressive season
between the posts and currently sits second on the list of goalkeepers with the
cleanest sheets. The shot-stopper has managed 14 clean sheets so far, just one
behind Equity goalkeeper Onyango Michael, who leads the chart with 15. He is
also tied with Peter Juma of Talanta on 14 clean sheets.
Speaking of his performance to Citizen Digital, Nderitu credited his
success to teamwork and unity within the Fortune Sacco squad.
He explained that his achievements would
not have been possible without the support and discipline shown by his teammates
throughout the campaign.
"I can say it is a collective
effort, from the management to the coaching staff. I can also credit my
defenders for it, I could not have done it alone," he said.
The goalkeeper also praised the
competitiveness of the National Super League, describing it as one of the
toughest leagues due to the close contest among teams. According to Nderitu,
the intensity of the title race shows the level of competition in the division,
with no club having mathematically secured the championship despite only four
matches remaining.
As the season approaches its conclusion,
Nderitu will be hoping to maintain his fine form and possibly overtake Onyango
Michael in the race for the Golden Glove accolade.
