The NSL side are determined to address defensive lapses that saw them settle for a dramatic 3-3 draw against Naivas in their last outing. The result exposed areas that require urgent improvement if the team is to remain competitive in the promotion race.
Speaking to Citizen Digital, head coach Vincent Nyaberi has confirmed that the team has already embarked on targeted training sessions designed to improve concentration levels, particularly within the defensive unit.
“It is not that my defenders do not understand the basics, it is a matter of concentration and I am going back to the drawing board and remind them on that," Nyaberi said.
The tactician has also emphasized that minimizing errors at the back will be essential as the league enters its decisive phase, with every point now carrying significant weight.
With 12 matches left before the season concludes, the coach has challenged his players to approach each fixture with the intensity of a final.
Fortune Sacco remain firmly in the hunt for promotion, and Nyaberi believes consistency will be key to achieving their ambitions.
“We have so many games left to go, and the gap is not that too wide, we will be taking our matches one at a time. That way, we will see how it goes.” He added.
Currently sitting sixth on the NSL table with 43 points, Fortune Sacco remain within reach of the promotion positions but face stiff competition from teams above them.
League leaders Mombasa United hold a 12-point advantage, leaving little room for further slip-ups.
