StueFormer Bahati MP Kimani Ngunjiri has called on President William Ruto to rein in politicians inciting violence across the country, warning that unchecked political mobilisation could plunge the nation into chaos as it edges closer to the 2027 General Election.

Speaking in Nakuru town on Saturday, Ngunjiri said the wave of disruptions most recently witnessed in Kuresoi North Constituency was a ticking time bomb that threatens to erode the peace Kenyans have long enjoyed.

"What we are witnessing is regrettable because it puts our county to shame, and even the peaceful processes we have upheld for a long time are being trampled upon by greedy politicians," he said.

The vocal former lawmaker took aim at Nakuru Governor Susan Kihika, accusing her of intimidating Members of Parliament and frustrating their efforts to deliver on their mandate within their constituencies.

He termed the Kuresoi North incident unfortunate, urging leaders across the political divide to condemn it and calling on residents to uphold peace and unity among the communities living in the cosmopolitan county.

Ngunjiri further cautioned that the manner in which politicians are mobilising crowds to shield or disrupt rival meetings is "breeding a disaster" that could spiral out of control if the Head of State does not step in.

"The President must speak, and he must act. We cannot gamble with the peace of this country for the sake of 2027 political mileage," he added.
