A Form Three student was on Tuesday morning found dead at the
Kenya Broadcasting Corporation (KBC) compound in Nyamninia, Yala, Siaya County.
The body of the 17-year-old girl was discovered partially
clothed by students on their way to school who raised alarm.
According to police reports, the girl left home for school at approximately
5:30am, only to be found dead and her body dumped in a bush roughly 300meters away,
with her undergarments removed.
Authorities in the area suspect that the girl was raped before
being killed.
Confirming the incident, Gem Yala Sub-County Police Commander
Charles Wafula said officers from Yala Police Station arrived at the scene and took
the body to the Yala Sub-County hospital mortuary.
The police boss added that investigations are presently
underway into the incident, while a postmortem examination is being conducted.
This comes after another similar incident occurred in Mindhine
village where an 18-year-old Form Four girl was found raped and murdered on her
way to school.
