A 36-year-old fisherman is on the run after allegedly killing his six-year-old son and seriously injuring his daughter following a domestic dispute in Nyasumbi Village, Gembe North Location, Mbita Sub-county.

The suspect, who works at Misori Beach, is reported to have attacked his children after a disagreement with his wife over his intention to inherit a widow within the village.

According to Gembe North Location Chief Charles Ngoe, the incident occurred on Wednesday morning when the man confronted his wife, who had opposed the relationship. The confrontation escalated into violence, forcing the woman to flee for her safety.

After the wife escaped, the suspect reportedly turned on their four-year-old daughter, assaulting her with a wooden rod and leaving her with serious injuries.

He then pursued his son, identified as Prince Otieno, a Grade One pupil at Gode Ariyo Comprehensive School. The man allegedly caught up with the boy and struck him on the head with a jembe handle, causing fatal injuries. The child died at the scene.

The injured girl was rushed to hospital in critical condition.

Police have since launched a manhunt for the suspect, who fled the scene after the incident.
