Fear has gripped residents of Ngamba Aka village in Kamburu, Lari Sub-County, Kiambu County, following the killing of a woman and her granddaughter in a suspected gang attack that has raised fresh concerns over insecurity in the area.

The two were reportedly strangled to death after unknown assailants raided their home late in the evening, bringing to five the number of women reportedly killed in the village in recent incidents.

The latest killings have left residents shaken, with fears growing that a criminal gang could be operating in the area and targeting women.

According to residents, the deaths are part of a disturbing pattern of killings that has left families living in fear, particularly elderly women who are believed to be increasingly vulnerable.

Despite the growing concerns, residents say no arrests have been made in connection with the killings, raising questions over the progress of investigations and the effectiveness of security measures in the area.

The Lari Assistant County Commissioner confirmed the latest incident, saying detectives from the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) had launched investigations and were pursuing leads to establish the circumstances surrounding the deaths.

However, the assurances have done little to calm residents, who are demanding more visible police patrols and decisive action against those responsible.

Women in the village say they are particularly concerned about their safety, amid suspicions that the killings could be linked to a gang deliberately targeting elderly women.

The motive behind the attacks remains unclear, with investigators yet to establish whether the incidents are connected.

Local leaders have appealed to senior government and security officials to intervene, calling for intensified investigations and the deployment of additional security personnel to restore confidence among residents.

They have also urged investigators to establish whether the killings are the work of the same perpetrators or separate criminal incidents.

The bodies of the two victims have been moved to the mortuary pending further investigations.

For residents of Ngamba Aka, the latest deaths have deepened an atmosphere of uncertainty, with families now demanding answers and swift arrests before more lives are lost.
