A family in Gatanga, Murang'a County, is calling for investigations into the deaths of three children whose bodies were found floating in an abandoned dam on Sunday, hours after they had attended church.

The children have been identified as Natalia, 10, a Grade Four pupil, Jamal, 9, a Grade Three pupil, and four-year-old Asaph.

According to the family, the children were discovered in the dam under circumstances that have raised suspicions of foul play.

Eunice Njeri, Asaph's mother, who was also taking care of Natalia and Jamal after they were left in her custody by her sister, believes the children may have been murdered.

Njeri says her suspicions stem from the condition in which the bodies were discovered, particularly that of Natalia, who was reportedly found without any clothes.

She claims the two boys were found fully dressed, with their shoes still on, raising questions about what transpired before the three ended up in the dam.

However, there were no eyewitnesses to the incident, and the circumstances surrounding the children's deaths remain unclear.

Gatanga Police Commander Ahmed Hillow said investigators are awaiting postmortem examination results to establish the cause of death.

Meanwhile, the family says financial constraints have delayed the examinations, as they are unable to raise the Ksh.30,000 reportedly required to conduct postmortems on the three bodies.

The family is now appealing for assistance to facilitate the examinations, which could help establish the circumstances surrounding the children's deaths.
