Fally Ipupa in Kenya for much-anticipated Saturday mega concert

The award-winning singer will headline the highly anticipated show, where he is expected to entertain his Kenyan fans with some of his biggest hits.

Fally Ipupa will share the stage with South African Amapiano star Kamo Mphela and renowned Amapiano DJ and producer DJ Maphorisa.

The lineup will also feature Kenyan and Congolese acts, including hugely popular group Kodong Klan, DJ Joe Mfalme, DJ Ice and Tango Supreme.

The concert is scheduled to start at 3pm on Saturday and run until 3am on Sunday, with Kodong Klan hogging the stage for close to two hours and Fally Ipupa taking over for a marathon two hours and 45 minutes.

At Hotel Kempinski, where he held a brief press conference after his arrival in Nairobi, Fally arrived dressed resplendently in a bright red silk scarf tied under his chin, worn over a brown baseball cap and paired with dark-framed designer sunglasses.

His upper look was accessorised with an oversized dark brown V-neck sweater decorated with an ornate gold brooch on the left chest, layered over a gold chain necklace, multiple gold bracelets and rings on both wrists and hands, along with a gold luxury wristwatch.

As he stylishly strode in, his unique mix of casual streetwear, luxury gold accessories, and a dramatic red silk headscarf brought an avant-garde, chic flair to the formal hotel suite.

The Congolese supernova's return comes months after he was scheduled to perform at Africa Forward Le Concert at Kasarani in May but did not take the stage.

The Rhumba heartthrob's upcoming Nairobi show will give fans another chance to see the Congolese star perform live after his previous May 2026 appearance was called off unexpectedly. 

Fally, who has a massively strong following in Kenya, has seen his music continue to resonate with fans of Congolese rumba and contemporary African music, as he continues to churn out sizzling hits, fused with his magnetic tenor and acrobatic melodies.

Fally's music, which moves like the Congo River itself - wide, deep, endlessly fluid, and carrying a quiet thunder beneath a shimmering surface - is an art form where velvet meets electricity, bridging the regal heritage of Kinshasa’s rumba with the hyper-polished shine of modern global pop.

His career, which spans more than two decades, has established him as one of the leading names in African music.

He is widely known for hits including Mayday, Eloko Oyo, A Flyé and Un Coup, among others.

The Nairobi concert will also bring together different sounds, with Congolese rumba, Amapiano and Kenyan music represented on the lineup.

For the local artistes scheduled to perform, the event will offer an opportunity to share a stage with some of the continent's biggest music names.

Kamo Mphela, meanwhile, is expected to bring her Amapiano sound to the Nairobi audience, while DJ Maphorisa will add his experience as one of South Africa's established producers and DJs.

The concert comes as Nairobi continues to host major international music acts, with fans increasingly turning out for live performances by African stars.

With the show just hours away, attention has shifted to Saturday's event as thousands of fans prepare for what is expected to be a long night of music, merriment and unforgettable entertainment.

Fally's return is also likely to be a major talking point among his Kenyan followers, particularly after his absence from the Kasarani concert earlier this year.

The September 5 show will therefore mark another opportunity for the Congolese star to connect with his Kenyan audience, as he weaves threads of urban Afrobeats, sleek French pop, smooth R&B, and sensual zouk into his arrangements.
