IEBC on Monday announced that it has appointed Chiloba as the commission’s CEO.

Chiloba is currently the deputy team leader at Drivers of Accountability, (DAI).

The 36 year old has previously served as Governance Analyst/Project Manager for UNDP Kenya.

Chiloba holds a Master of Arts degree in Public Policy from the Central European University and a Bachelor of Laws degree from the University of Nairobi.

He is a senior fellow at the Policy House and a member of the Law Society of Kenya (LSK).

In a press statement released by the IEBC, Chairperson Isaack Hassan said Chiloba had emerged the most successful candidates in the interviews.

Chiloba beat three candidates who had been shortlisted for the electoral body’s top job, among them Betty Nyabuto Sungura, who had for 13 months held the position in an acting capacity following James Oswago’s sacking.

Chiloba will be incharge of the IEBC secretariat and one of the main tasks awaiting him is the 2017 general election, the second main electoral exercise under the constitution enacted in 2010.

He will also take charge of the twin referendum polls to amend the constitution spearheaded by the Okoa Kenya and the Council of Governors, should the two manage to satisfy the requirements outlined for amending the country’s supreme law through a popular initiative.

Chiloba will serve for a renewable term of six years.
