Exercising before breakfast burns more fat.

This is because it will force the body to use the carbohydrates that were stored in the body when you were asleep.

According to a report on CNN, most people are known to before exercise to boost blood sugars; give the body fuel to increase the intensity and length of a workout and keep from feeling fatigued or dizzy.

However, a new study found that eating after exercising makes one more responsive to insulin; this controls high blood sugars thus reducing the risk for diabetes and heart disease.

The US Figure Skating Association recommends the use of 4R’s for recovery after exercise:

  • rehydrate,
  • replenish,
  • repair and
  • reinforce to avoid breaking down if you choose to work out on an empty stomach.

To achieve the 4Rs; drink water or sports drinks then eat a meal with a 4:1 carb to high quality protein ratio within 15-30 minutes.

Finally, eat some fruits accompanied with low fat Greek yogurt or substitute this with a banana-peanut butter combo.
