Ex-striker Odera relishing Gor, Leopards league contest

For the first time in many years, arch-rivals Gor Mahia and AFC Leopards have locked horns in a title race, with K’Ogalo leading the table by just a four-point margin with only two matches remaining to the end of the campaign.

“AFC Leopards have made me proud this season, and it is very nice to see that the two big clubs in Kenyan football history are gunning for the title almost to the wire. 

These are our teams that have the most fans and they have excited and motivated them. It is very good that the competition has become top-notch again,” said Odera.

Odera who featured for Gor Mahia, AFC Leopards, KCB among other clubs still believes that Ingwe can still bag the gong.

"The return leg of the Mashemeji derby was a decider and I had prayed for AFC Leopards to win as a die-hard fan but it didn't happen. However, I still pray for them to win because the league is not over and I believe they have the ability to turn the tables and lift the title."

Gor Mahia currently lead the Football Kenya Federation (FKF) Premier League with 68 points from 32 matches, giving them a 4-point advantage over second-placed AFC Leopards, who have 64 points from 32 matches.

They will wrap their 34-match season with Gor Mahia facing Mara Sugar away and Nairobi United at home while AFC Leopards will face APS Bomet away and already relegated Bidco United at home.
