Speaking during the Mashujaa Day celebrations at Kipchoge Keino Stadium in Eldoret, Abiy said bringing together trade choices can result in prosperity.
“We rise as rivals. We build as partners. In Ethiopia, we call this spirit Madama. It means synergy,” Abiy said.
“Since 2022, it has carried clean power across our border. It brings light to homes and energy to industry. We also see it on the road from Mombasa to Hawassa. Our partnership grows through our businesses,” Abiya added.
He said Safaricom has played a major role in promoting business, enabling Ethiopia and Kenya to trade more easily.
“Today, Safaricom connects millions of Ethiopians and Mpesa helps people send money and make payments,” Abiya said.
Abiya urged President William Ruto to continue with the partnership that will grow mainly through business.
“Our farmers and producers must be able to trade more easily across our borders. Let more of our people visit each other's countries, discover our cultures, and learn together."
The Ethiopian Prime Minister told President Ruto their partnership would benefit more families through business.
He affirmed to the people of Kenya that Ethiopia will always support them.
