Forbes, in rankings developed in partnership with Statista, ranked Equity Group Holdings among 500 other top banks from 89 countries globally.
The rankings were based on customer evaluations obtained through surveys and financial data obtained through leading data providers, desk research, and data submissions from banks.
Globally, Equity was ranked at position 71 among lower mid-size banks.
According to Forbes, the listed banks met criteria of profitability, growth and earnings quality, capital and funding resilience, and asset quality and efficiency.
Here, the profitability score was calculated by combining return and efficiency metrics, while the growth and earnings quality score was calculated by factoring in earnings growth and stability along with customer deposit growth indicators over three-year periods.
On the other hand, the capital and funding resilience score was determined by combining capital strength and funding structure indicators. Asset quality and efficiency score was calculated by assessing indicators of credit quality, risk management and balance sheet resilience.
Other Kenyan banks featured in the Forbes list include Co-op Bank, KCB and Stanbic.
