EPRA shuts down these petrol stations selling adulterated fuel

The Energy and Petroleum Regulatory Authority (EPRA) has censured five dealers over market irregularities in the quarter ending September 30.

Four of the indicted dealers are filling stations who have offered for sale adulterated fuels to customers and also offered for sale products meant for exports.

Vivasa Energy Filling Station in Kajiado County has for instance been shut for offering diesel and super petrol laced with domestic kerosene and with high sulphur content.

King Size filling Station in Mwala has meanwhile seen its super petrol dispensing pump sealed for the same infraction.

Delta Thika Road Service Station has meanwhile paid taxes and fines estimated at Ksh.500,000 after the closure of its super petrol dispensing pumps over adulteration.

Frankstar Solution Filling Station in Bungoma County has had its super petrol pumps closed for offering product meant for export.

Industrial Area based Royal Gas is meanwhile under investigation for trading in third party LPG cylinders without requisite licensing.

During the quarter, EPRA carried out 1360 tests on 256 petroleum sites out of which 98.44 per cent of the sites were found to be compliant.
