Residents of Karurumo in Runyenjes, Embu County, have taken drastic measures by planting bananas along the deteriorated Karurumo–Kasafari road.

The residents took to the streets in protest of the deplorable state of the road.

They accuse local leaders of turning the road into a political tool rather than addressing its urgent repairs.

The residents are now appealing to their leaders to intervene and resolve the issue promptly.

They describe the road as a nightmare for motorists and a significant obstacle for farmers in the area engaged in milk, avocado, miraa, and macadamia farming.

They have issued a stern warning, vowing to organise demonstrations if immediate action, including grading the road, is not taken.

The residents also noted that they had previously been promised the road would be tarmacked, but no progress has been made.
