Police at Kibra Police Station are in custody of a suspected drug peddler who has reportedly been elusive from officers.

The National Police Service reported that the unidentified suspect was arrested at his hideout in Lindi, Kibra Sub-County, Nairobi after an intelligence-led probe.

"The raid caught the suspect completely off guard, with officers finding him actively rolling sticks of cannabis sativa, preparing the narcotics for distribution," NPS said on Saturday.

The suspect, said to be operating in the area for a while, was found with 86 rolls of cannabis sativa, approximately 200 grams of unprocessed cannabis sativa, 48 pieces of cannabis cakes, and 25 rolling papers.

He will remain in custody awaiting appearance in court as officers heighten their probe for more possible links to wider narcotics distribution networks operating within Nairobi and beyond.

The raid came amid a nationwide crackdown on drug trafficking and illegal substance abuse which national authorities have vowed to tame.
