Eldoret polytechnic student dies of severe hemorrhage after attempted pregnancy termination

The student was pursuing a Diploma in Science Laboratory Technology and was in her second year of study. Reports indicate she suffered a severe hemorrhage and lost a significant amount of blood.

According to witnesses, the incident occurred on Thursday morning. Friends who went to check on her said repeated attempts to wake her up were met with silence.

Neighbors and friends described a heartbreaking scene, saying they found the girl clutching her phone as though trying to make a call, while her other hand rested on the bed. They believe she may have been attempting to seek help but was overcome by pain and blood loss before she could do so.

Confirming the incident, Uasin Gishu County Police Commander Benjamin Mwanthi urged students and young people to avoid self-harm and seek professional medical care when in distress. He emphasized that timely medical intervention could prevent needless deaths such as Jelagat’s.
