Father waiting for his daughter's visit finds her lifeless body with multiple stab wounds

Cheptoo was discovered dead on August 23, inside her rental house in Eldoret's Action Estate, having suffered multiple stab wounds. 

Her family has urgently appealed to the Directorate of Criminal Investigations Homicide Bureau to expedite investigations and apprehend the prime suspect, who remains at large.

The grim discovery was made after Cheptoo's father, Luka Biwott, travelled from Elgeyo Marakwet to Eldoret when his daughter uncharacteristically failed to reach him by phone, a day after she had promised to visit the family home. 

Accompanied by local police officers, Biwott broke into the locked house, only to find his daughter's lifeless body lying on the bed in a pool of blood.

 A subsequent autopsy conducted at the Moi Teaching and Referral Hospital (MTRH) revealed the true brutality of the attack, confirming that the young mother had been stabbed 11 times, with three fatal wounds inflicted around her neck and forehead.

The grieving family has pointed fingers at Cheptoo's estranged lover, with whom she shared a three-year-old daughter. 

According to family members, the suspect had previously cohabited with Cheptoo, but she recently moved out into her own apartment after their relationship became toxic and untenable.

Demanding immediate accountability, family representatives Elkana Yanoi and Aunt Lilian Kipchumba, alongside MKU student leader Collins Kosgei, have called for a thorough manhunt. 

Police command in Uasin Gishu County has since intensified its search for the suspect, who went into hiding immediately after the incident.

This tragic killing underscores a disturbing surge in gender based violence within Uasin Gishu County, where three women have lost their lives at the hands of romantic partners in less than a fortnight. 

Among the recent victims is 45-year-old Doris Murei, who was fatally shot by General Service Unit (GSU) Constable Nathan Kirwa, a police officer assigned to the security detail of Uasin Gishu Governor Jonathan Bii. 

As local leaders and student bodies express mounting outrage, the police face mounting pressure to stem the tide of domestic femicide and ensure swift prosecution of Cheptoo's killers.
