Elated Owalo backs Gor Mahia to shine on CAF-CL return

Kenya Premeir League champions Gor Mahia patron Eliud Owalo pledged more support for the 22-time top flight champions following a splendid season in which they extended their dominance as the winingest side in Kenyan football.
Speaking at Carnival Restaurant in Nairobi where hosted the club for a luncheon, Owalo praised the team for conquering an enviable milestone.
The luncheon, organized through the Eliud Owalo foundation, brought together the current squad players, led by Ghananian head coach Charles Akonnor, Gor Mahia’s long serving chairman Ambrose Rachier and various club legends as they celebrated the team’s major milestone achievements.
The event saw the team get a cash prize of one million Kenya shillings from the Patron Eliud Owalo who also expressed his satisfaction with the team performance as they also qualified for CAF champions league next season.Owalo also pledged his support to Kogalo in ensuring the team maintains its good record in Kenya’s top flight and the CAF Champions League.
In a statement during his speech in the event,Owalo acknowledged and thanked the entire team fraternity togetherness and hardwork in ensuring that they continue their dominance.
“I want to attribute the the success of Gor Mahia this year to the team work that has been exhibited by various members of the Gor Mahia family, let me thank the office, they have been the clue that brings all of us together balancing all the interest of the stakeholders within Gor Mahia.”
“I really want to thank Charles Akonnor and his team,they have worked extremely hard.They came a short while just before the season begun but they withstood the pressure.It is not easy for a technical bench to withstand the pressure of Gor Mahia fans but they withstood the pressure and ensured that the team maintained it’s cool throughout the season.”
“To the playing unit,you have been great team of players,we owe you a great debt of gratitude.
"We had a very mature team with strength and positive character.”
“We also really need to thank our fans this year,we did not have any act of hullighanism throughout the year,they have made us a proud even in matches we were losing the fans took it positively.”
Owalo also showed his faith and belief in seeing Gor Mahia winning the CAF Champions league
“We have only won a continental title once ,I wish that next season we could replicate the fete that that was achieved by the 1987 team by making our fans proud and winning the CAF champions league,we have the capacity and I believe we can.”
