Edwin Odhuambo Oduor, a suspect in connection with nine fraudulent compensation claims arising from a road traffic accident involving two motor vehicles along Kangundo Road on September 8, 2023, has been arrested by the Insurance Fraud Investigations Unit (IFIU) at the Omega area in Kasarani.

According to the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI), Oduor is suspected of coordinating several people to make injury claims against an insurance company, alleging they sustained injuries in an accident involving an insured vehicle and a third-party car.

Jubilee Insurance Company presented the matter to IFIU after doubts about the authenticity of the claims arose.

Further, investigations disclosed that the documents used as support for the compensation claims were fraudulently obtained from Mama Lucy Hospital and Kayole Police Station.

The investigations unit forwarded the inquiry file to the Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions (ODPP), which recommended that the suspect be charged with conspiracy and insurance fraud.

Detectives warned the public to refrain from exploiting the lawful compensation system by falsifying documents for unlawful financial gain.
