A day after the release of the Kisii County Staff Audit Report
by the Institute of Human Resource Management, the Ethics and Anti-Corruption
Commission (EACC) says the lost public funds in Kisii must be recovered.
On Thursday, the anti-graft body said it will institute proceedings to recover any salaries earned on the basis of forged academic certificates saying they amount to fraudulent acquisition of public property.
EACC also pointed out that the report comes as they are finalising a probe on corrupt individuals in the county who are accused of county coffers dry through their corrupt dealings.
According to EACC, several counties in the country are on their radar over reports of massive embezzlement of funds.
The Institute of Human Resource Management (IHRM) released its report to Kisii County Governor Simba Arati on Wednesday after two months of thorough county staff Audit.
In the report, glaring anomalies were pointed out among them the detection of 1,314 ghost workers, Ksh 48.7 million as the amount paid through irregular allowances, fake academic documents as some were also flagged for pausing as Persons With Disabilities (PWDs) with forged certificates amongst other discrepancies.
