The Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission has successfully reclaimed public land worth Ksh.50 million in Machakos town following a court ruling in its favour.
The recovered land comprises two parcels located adjacent to
the Machakos Law Courts and forms part of the grabbed land identified as LR No. 909/536.
The land had originally been reserved for the Ministry of
Health to provide institutional housing and host another house, House No. MACH/HOUSE/HG.14,
classified as a pool house, which is currently occupied by the sub-county
police commander.
According to the EACC Director of Legal Services and Asset
Recovery, David Too, the judgment marks a significant step in safeguarding
public assets from illegal acquisition.
He further confirmed that an adjacent parcel of land valued
at Ksh.20 million had also been recovered through voluntary surrender.
David Too said the commission had investigated allegations
of illegal alienation of land that had been carved out of government premises.
