The Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission (EACC) has called for the recovery of assets acquired through corruption, saying the process is key to demonstrating accountability and rebuilding public confidence in state institutions.
EACC Vice Chairperson Dr Monica Wanjiru Muiru said
returning assets obtained through corruption for public benefit helps translate
integrity commitments into tangible outcomes for Kenyans.
Muiru spoke while representing the Commission at the Trust
Summit 2026 – Nairobi Dialogue on Global Trust, held at Glee Hotel in Nairobi
from October 21 to 23.
During a leadership forum titled “Standing on Solid Ground
of Democratic Values”, moderated by Janet Mbugua, Muiru highlighted the Commission’s
asset recovery efforts as a practical way of demonstrating accountability in
public service.
She also urged delegates to take personal responsibility in
the fight against corruption, noting that building an ethical society requires
action from both public institutions and individuals.
The Commission said the summit provided an opportunity to
strengthen partnerships around accountable leadership, credible institutions
and shared responsibility for integrity in public life.
