The Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission (EACC) has arrested five current and former Nakuru County officials and a land vendor over alleged irregularities in the Sh95 million purchase of land for the proposed Lanet Umoja Health Centre.

The land was bought in the 2019/2020 financial year despite the county having allocated only Sh23 million for the acquisition.

EACC says the property was also subject to a Sh3 million Family Bank charge and had existing educational structures, contrary to procurement specifications.

The suspects face potential charges including abuse of office, conspiracy to commit an economic crime and procurement-related offences.

They are expected to be arraigned before the Nakuru Law Courts.
