Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua has committed to intervening in various challenges that the Talai Community has been facing since the pre-colonial period.

The minority group has been pushing for compensation over a colonial-era land grab, where they accuse the British of collective punishment and forcefully evicting them off their land, which was turned into profitable tea farms.

After a 5-hour closed door meeting with 4 Clans of the Talai Community on Sunday, Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua assured that the land and settlement issue will soon be resolved.

“We will help in solving the land tussle so that the men who fought for Kenya’s independence feel proud of their effort,” he said.

Gachagua accompanied by several leaders led by Nandi Governor Stephen Arap Sang said that they also resorted to have the 15 Km Chepkober - Talai - Kaiboi road tarmacked. This will ease transport and mobility in the area connecting Nandi Central, Chesumei, Nandi North and Turbo Sub Counties.

On health and water supply, Gachagua promised to upgrade Kapsisiywa Dispensary to a Health Centre and see the completion of Kombe Water Project.
