Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua and Azimio la Umoja One Kenya alliance frontman Raila Odinga on Friday attended the funeral service of Mau Mau war veteran John Kagwe alias Brigadier Kiboko at his home in Ngorika, Nyandarua County.

Videos seen by Citizen Digital placed both leaders, who were in the company of their respective entourages, at the ongoing funeral service.

The two leaders are crossing paths just three days after DP Gachagua dismissed the ongoing bi-partisan talks between the Kenya Kwanza and Azimio coalitions, stating that nothing will come out of the deliberations which are expected to unlock the standoff between the government and the opposition.

According to Gachagua the talks are only meant to hoodwink Kenyans since Raila has apparently met with President Ruto and made his agenda clear on what he wants.

"Raila ametafuta Rais juzi, hakukuja na Kalonzo. Hakuna mambo ya Kalonzo aliongea. Aliongea mambo yake, ya mtoto wake na bibi yake na watu yao. Sasa hii mazungumzo ametuma Kalonzo… pale kwa agenda hakuna mambo ya maji ya ukambani, mbolea, ama bara bara.  Kwa hiyo mazungumzo, nini iko hapo ya wakamba?” Gachagua posed on Tuesday when he attended the burial ceremony of the late Anne Musau.

Kagwe passed away on August 18 while undergoing treatment at a city hospital.

Prior to his death, the war veteran had in May requested President William Ruto to allow him to lead a team of former Mau Mau fighters to recover the body of deceased freedom fighter Dedan Kimathi from Kamiti Maximum Prison.
