Two of the eight passengers who perished in Friday’s grisly road accident along Kilgori-Kisii road after a party in Kilgoris were sisters.

The two girls, who were students at Kenyatta University, were to travel to their Kisii home on the fateful day, but they took a detour to attend an all white party at a Kilgoris club.

Relatives of the deceased in Rwika Village, Embu County are still trying to come to terms with the double loss.

Japheth Kariuki, an uncle of the deceased, says that extended family had just come from the burial of his nephew when they received the sad news.

He explains that the two ladies has been asked to look after the family home by their parents, as the rest of the family would be headed to Katharaka village in Tharaka Nithi County for the burial of their cousin Brian Mwenda.

The grief-struck uncle says that the girls had asked their parents for permission to attend the party before heading home.

He says that moments after arriving back home in Rwika, together with the deceased’s parents, they received the sad news of the grisly road accident at around 12:00am.

Susan Wangari expressed grief over the loss of her cousins; she described the two as cheerful and jovial young people.
